Graphing Numeric Data

[obsolete]

Here’s another reason to start logging with JSON log data. It really is the best & easiest way to get more insight out of your log files. If you’re still logging plain text, think about all of the numerical data that’s going to waste because it’s a pain to analyze. If you’re sending us numerical data in JSON format, we can graph it for you. Analysis is now simplified!

Whether you want to see the day’s CPU load or the month’s memory usage, the graphs are easy to set up. Run the “graphjson” command directly from the Loggly Shell. Provide us with the key names of the values you want to plot and a search query. The x-axis uses the Loggly time stamp and the y-axis uses the numeric value of the specified JSON field.
